"Blujives" has heated up the debate that he actually started from his reading of my essay about identity politics and interracial dating in Korea – he's now brought the conversation down the level of pure invective by calling me an "Uncle Tom."
Needless to say, I don't like being called racist names, especially when the purpose of my post was to call people out for being racist. However, Bluejives seems to think that sounding the timeout bell and pointing a critical finger at prejudices within the Korean American community is unacceptable behavior. Apparently, Asian Americans are such consummate victims at the hands of white society that they are above reproach or critique.
Since I don't want to bring the war onto the front page of this blog, I'll just point you to it and leave it up to you as to whether to want to get into the details. I will say that the flamewar gets pretty hot by the end, which might be a draw for those of you who rubberneck on the highways after accidents (like most of us).
