This week I formally part ways with the Seoul Selection newsletter and have decided to continue my photo column on my own. The main reason for this lies in the fact that my original idea was that of a real photo column, that being a singular photo accompanied by text explaining and enhancing the impact of the image. Also, I was of the mind that readers interested enough in my photo column enough to linger a bit would be interested in how the picture was taken, the particular meanings of aspects of the image, as well as generally what the picture meant to me as part of an overall view of Korea.
Creative differences as to how that could be accomodated in the newsletter, in combination with the fact that my photos have been less and less of a standalone quality and that I really wanted to provide text with some of the more controversial stuff I wanted to present, became such that it seemed better to go down separate paths.
So I just wanted to give a note of thanks to the Seoul Selection newsletter for its continued support over the last nearly two years.
I also wanted to send out a shout-out to the big bloggers who've been sending lots of traffic my way: The Marmot, Hunjang, and the Lost Nomad. These are the people who I happen to know are sending over sharp and savvy readers, so if any more of you are out there referring this site, please drop me a note when you get a chance.
