Since I've started blogging again, I've gotten some great responses from what I have come to see are some faithful readers.
I just wanted to put in an entry thanking people for coming back to the blog after my long hiatus. I think I got off to a great start with the recommendations of several well-known figures in the Korean blogosphere, as well as the link in from Seoul Selection. Then, around December, I flubbed it. Dropped the ball. Blew a great thing. Not posting for 6 months. Stoopid, stoopid.
My only excuse has nothing to do with not having anything to say, but rather just being plain distracted and lazy, which was further enabled by not liking to compose or deal with posts via Typepad's web interface, which requires that you write in HTML tags just to italicize words and manually put in the tags for making links and other irritating HTML minutiae. Now, with the help of a great program, I can just write as I would in any word processor and publish with the push of a button, without having to log in via the web and go through several windows of annoying crap. This is not to dis Typepad, but rather to give it kudos for making itself so easily compatible with offline blogging programs.
On a non-technical note, the thanks I am giving to the readers includes those who go through the trouble to debate with me, as I appreciate the extra mental and physical effort required to formulate and type out an opinion. Even if I disagree with you, I truly appreciate you taking the energy to do so, as long as it's civil. In the spirit of open and healthy debate, I promise never to delete a post unless it's downright inappropriate in its use of foul language or unnecessaryily vicious invective. To date, I've not had to erase any posts, albeit a couple have been a little angry. I feel as if it's people's right to express their opinions and have them displayed, if I'm going to talk about points that are controversial or hit close to other people's hearts. I wouldn't be a true "metropolitician" if I deleted every post that disagreed with me or even successfully called me out and made me look stoopid, which anyone can sometimes can be.
So to my readers, I raise a metaphorical 500cc glass of 생맥주 (draught beer) to you in appreciation and respect for you coming back to my scribblings.
Salut!
