So, I think I've been "tagged" and have to answer and report on a list of questions before sending off the list to five fellow bloggers.
So I'm down with that, but I don't know that many other bloggers who haven't already been "tagged." So I'll see who I can come up with after I do my duty:
1. Ten years Ago:
It was 1995 and I was in the middle of my two-year, first stint in Korea, living with a host family on Cheju Island and teaching in a middle school. No Internet, cable was brand-new in Korea, and I was cut off from the rest of the world. Looking back, it was paradise.
2. Five years Ago:
I was a grad student at Berkeley just getting back into my photography and stressed about taking my qualifying exams. Eww.
3. One year Ago:
I was pulling my hair out trying to make ends meet and ending meeting with a crazy girlfriend.
4. Yesterday:
I was tooling around the Yongsan electronics market looking to find a digital audio recorder and cursing the fact that the entire market decides to take vacation over the same four days.
5. Today:
Working at UNESCO (where I am part-time) and thinking about the fact that I don't have much work to do these days.
6. Tomorrow:
Will sleep late and have a lotta writing work to catch up on.
7. Five snacks I enjoy:
Smoothies from my new blender, mandu from the truck outside my building, the "Shanghai burger" from Mickey D's, Digestive brand cookies with the chocolate on the bottom side, the ice cream with the sorbet on the bottom (sold in the freezer of all fine street "슈퍼")
8. Five bands (or singers) for whom I know the lyrics to most of their songs:
Public Enemy, Eric B. & Rakim, EPMD, Ray Charles, George Jones (hehe)
9. Five things I would do with $100,000,000:
have a disgustingly raucous romp for a week that even I won't describe here, stop working and finish my dissertation with a staff of dedicated researchers to do all the scut work, pay off all relatives and friends' debts and mortgages, buy all those gadgets and pieces of equipment I want/need, start 3 model middle/high schools in nyc, chicago, and la for poor kids as starter projects to show that poor colored folk can kick ass if given a fair shake (and maybe more money from other rich folks will follow)
10. Five locations I'd like to run away to:
Florence, Italy / Cairo, Egypt / the moon or near-earth orbit (with a ticket on some rocket or shuttle as space tourist)
11. Five bad habits:
putting off work, eating bad American foods, not budgeting and buying useless things, not taking the subway and hitting the taxi too much
12. Five things I like doing:
adjusting my kick-ass home theater, shopping for DVD's, blogging, teaching history, writing sometimes
13. Five TV shows I like:
umm...i don't watch tv...umm...but when I did, it was Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. That's the only show I watched. Yes, I am a geek.
14. Famous people I'd like to meet:
Denzel Washington (respect, respect), Shin Eun Kyung (damn, she's married now), Ewan McGregor (dude - he's Obi-Wan!), Ruth Simmons (1st black Ivy League school prez at my alma mater who gets much respect, respect),
15. Biggest joys at the moment:
my home theater, girlfriend, lusting after a digital audio recorder, being free to do all kinds of interesting work, my air conditioner
16. Favorite toys:
12-inch "Predator" replica, my projector and 100" screen, various pieces of audio recording equipment
17. Five people to tag:
Nora from nora Knows nada? – umm...the other people I would tag have already been "it."
