OK - I admit it. Several people have pointed this out after having observed my last few posts.
I have been in an extremely bad mood. I have been irritable. But I'm coming out of it.
In short, in the last two weeks, my girlfriend flew the coop and my iPod just up and broke (well, to be fair, I fell asleep in the bus and dropped it pretty hard – twice). $500 bucks (in circa 2004 adjusted greenscreen iPod dollars) down the drain, along with many dinners for two, conversations, and what I thought was good lovin' – all for naught.
So please excuse the slightly harsh Hongdae post. Although I stand by most of my observations, I do admit that it was kinda mean. I'll leave it up because I don't believe in erasing the past – but I still don't like Hongdae no mo'. It's lost its flava, mang.
But things are looking up – I actually got dragged to – ahem – Hongdae by a friend who was trying to get me the hell out of dodge, and she brought along two lovely lasses who were quite fun. Although I ended up paying 25,000 won to hear techno (argh!), it was good to not stew in my apartment. I actually ran into a friend and reader of the blog who was absolutely stunned and greatly amused to see me standing in M2 just a couple days after reading that ascerbic anti-Hongdae rant. I was quite amused as well.
And although I had to drop serious dollas for a new iPod, the new video-enabled 5th generation iPod is, to put it poetically, fucking sweet! I was at first hesitant to drop the dimes on what I thought were just frills and a fancy screen, but this little gadget has got the kid in me cooing again. Music videos! Yeah! Video podcasts! Yeah! Clearer, cleaner, brighter screen! Yeah! Photo slide show good for the photographer in me! Yeah! And it's thinner, sexier, and has picture quality that is amazingly wonderful. Life is good again. At least things are looking up.
Or, for me, looking down – all day long at the cool-azz videos I'll be watching through the new iPod while sitting on long-ass bus rides.
Yeah, baby, yeah!
Ya'll have a nice night!
