Who knew?
Seems that there was some early contact with black folks on the peninsula, early on in Korea's history, during the Imjin War.
Found this an interesting read. And the picture – finally! A lampoony cartoon depicting black people that isn't totally offensive! Of course, all comedy and lampooning involves exaggeration, but you don't have to get ridiculous with it. And also, while there's no hard-and-set rule, I didn't think it was anything like nearly every other depiction of black people in cartoon I had ever seen in Korea.
What do you think?
My favorite part? The dog, dude. RUFF!
I haven't had time to do more than skim, much less translate, this article. But I'll get around to it soon, and in this post, which will be updated later.
I'm sleepy, man.
