OK – let me get this straight – America's got a black man who might be president, funny and sexy Asian men leading successful film careers, and a movie made by a Southerner about a black man who keeps a jailbait white girl chained up to his radiator in skimpy attire? And Sam Jackson in another movie with a snake in the title?
Love the cover.
By George, I'll bite. And I'm looking forward to this next work from Craig Brewer, director of the sultry and soulful Hustle and Flow, with a curmudgeonly Sam Jackson, saucy Christina Ricci, and...a Boy Scout Justin Timberlake? Huh?
Here's an interview with the director, and here's a link to the trailer if the YouTube video below goes bad.
Whatever happens, it looks like an interesting ride. Check the TomatoMeter out. Nice and mixed, a 66% fresh tomato, right in the zone of being able to really like it or hate it. It may not be the best movie of all time, but it's certainly an interesting exercise in...something.
Here are some clips. Standard spoiler warnings apply. You do get to see Sam Jackson sing the blues. And check out the final scene in this collection below. Those intimate, real conversations are why I fell in love with Hustle and Flow.
Now, I hope this one makes its way to Korea, although I highly, highly doubt it.
