Was caught in the Idae area yesterday evening when we experienced the first snow of the season. Myself, coming from the Midwest, me and snow were close when I was building snowforts as a kid, but stopped being friends when I had to drive through it. But before that, the heavier the better, and if it snowed hard enough to stop city functions, then we might even get a day off of school.
But in Korea, as in Japan, the first snow of the year is a romantic event. If you're a couple and you happen to be meeting together at just that moment, it's the sort of thing that might require a kiss, or if apart, at least a phone call or text message. Took me a while to get used to that, but I did nonetheless. Note to those with significant others of the Korean persuasion" when it snows like this, get on the horn – fast.
It seemed that some people were caught without umbrellas, so I saw a few creative solutions to the problem. So, all that schoollarnin' did come in handy! Snow headgear with a sense of humor. Hehe.
