Went to buy an extra battery for my phone today and the anecdotal evidence of just how popular the iPhone is blows my mind. People were like falling over each to buy cases, or the phone itself. Those nationalist pundits talking down the iPhone right before it launched must have really been smoking some good crack, because the thing is selling like sugar-coated hotcakes dipped in strawberry jam.
And I'm getting many more domestic korean friends appearing on facebook these days, and Twitter is pumping along like nobody's business these days. Hard to say how much the iPhone is directly influencing this, but even I started really Twittering because of it's sudden utility to me as an iPhone user. And the iPhone make my Facebook experience better, too. In short, the iPhone becomes an efficient little data and communications hub, something it's not so far with Naver and the rest of the extremely insular Korean Internet.
